Watercolor and Poetry

Celebrating the creative year of 2023, we had this amazing encounter of the Art Club at the IDB headquarters in Washington DC, for its first time!

Martina Sestakova sharing some results of students exercises.

Martina Sestakova, a talented textile designer and also an extraordinary Art teacher, inspired us by bringing poems to mix with some watercolor techniques:

  • wet on wet

  • wet on dry

Some participant’s works.

At the kickoff of our workshop, everyone was a bit shy, unsure of how to dive into the realm of rest and relaxation.

Martina Sestakova, shared a simple yet powerful tip – start with a dot. It turns out, the most significant artwork can begin with just a dot.

Inspired by Mary Oliver's poems, we handpicked words and let our imagination run wild, envisioning shapes, colors, and how we could translate them onto our paper.

The cool exercise led us to this final slideshow, showcasing the incredible results of our creative journey.
