Hidden Gems

This exhibition highlights some of the works of Club members. It is our way to recognize talented people among our group of Art enthusiasts.

For 2020, the Club selected Teresa Rozkiewicz and Mónica Stewart for an online vernissage of their previous work.

Teresa Rozkiewicz

Art has been a lifelong passion for Teresa.  She is mostly a self-taught artist, starting during her university years and blossomed in her tenure in Japan, where she spent the most part of a year studying papermaking techniques; when she returned to Canada, she followed studies at the Ottawa School of Art.

The pieces in the collection include multiple layers of paint though which images appear, tracing back in her memory.  The washi paper, metal, photography and recycled everyday objects she uses give richness to her works, which are often reinforced with a photographic or text narrative, structured in series of layers and read through texture.

“My work is an interpretation of my new surroundings, new contexts and new circumstances”

Mónica Stewart

Mónica did Art Studies at various studios, focused on drawing, watercolors and acrylics. She also attended the National School of Fine Arts of Montevideo, Uruguay and the San Jose Museum of Art in California.

After a 25-year gap, she started doing art again as a hobby and joined the Club. She loves to explore different techniques, such as mixed media and sculpture, as a way to express herself.

“Art and creativity are for me a way to escape without leaving home”
