NGA - Capital Cultural tour

What a great afternoon we had with Capital Cultural group last Friday, May 20th to see the exhibition “Afro-Atlantic Histories” at National Gallery of Art.

Isn’t incredibly shocking how little we know about our own countries artists and culture?

I was amazed knowing that this same exhibition had its first launching in Brazil.

At the end of the exhibition, we realized since the pandemic started, plus Black Lives Matter and all protests about George Floyd case, it has an increase of awareness for black artists and some voices, specially female ones have been raising on art field.

  • Last Summer we saw Sonya Clark exhibition which can be seen in here: “Women in the Arts”

  • Our group went to “Glenstone Museum” to see “International Monographic Exhibition” on which the pluralist artist, Faith Ringgold showed her work of written poetry on quilt, soft sculptures and fiber art.
