Women in the Arts

Who would ever think of art made out of human hair?

Last May, some ladies from the Art + Design & Craft Club had the chance to visit the National Museum of Women in the Arts.

Sonya Clark, a textile artist is showing her work in an exhibition called “Tatter, Bristle and Mend”.

The material she used for her mixed-media pieces goes from human hair to cotton plant, thread, glass beads and plastic combs.

We were impressed by the ability of the artist on making big sculptures with simple pocket combs.

You can see above some pictures of her work with glass beads.

The first one is an allusion to the lines of the artist hand palms. Isn’t it great?
