A Morning of Creation and New Ideas
One of the most meaningful and fun sessions in our Art Club is Open Studio. It is a time to create, connect, and share the next steps in our artistic process.
Jane, Jes and Fabi
On February 27, Jane, Jes, and Fabi met for a morning of focused creation and conversation.
With music in the background and while painting, they spoke about performance arts and theater, including experiences working with adolescents and larger groups. They also exchanged ideas about fashion and mentioned up-cycling as a possible theme for the Art Club next semester. It was a natural brainstorm about creative interests they share.
The piece left by Ana Britto - originally started in Julio’s class few weeks ago - now has been painted by Jane with Ana’s permission. Continuing this work will allow us to honor a shared creative history.
Next task: work on the shades and lights!
Jes Corredera’s painting
Jes worked on canvas using acrylic paint, developing composition and layering techniques. He included the word Bien in his artwork, bringing a note of positivity to his piece.
Fabiola Presa’s Art
Fabi added color to her black and white mandala using watercolor. During a group brainstorming conversation, she proposed organizing a jewelry workshop using paper!
She created during our session a very beautiful origami based design and suggested creating wearable pieces from folded forms.
A quick simulation helped the group visualize how the origami could become a cool paper jewelry.
Next Friday, Fabi will bring a prototype so the group can further develop the idea. The project may become the focus for the month of May.
Eugenia was not able to attend due to another commitment. Her workshop on manual crafts will take place on March 13.
We hope many of you can join!!
Until there, Open Studio remains a space for exchange, process, and shared learning.
Have a good weekend!
